The AI boom has been tough on juniors and the market for junior roles, however I am also starting to note its effects on more senior engineers as well. It’s a different set of challenges, but a far more insidious and immediate one. Things like review fatigue, increased capacity allocation towards detail-oriented work vs creative development and increasing incident rates related to human error. Currently researching more on this, and on potential AI usage contracts being a next logical step for teams that wish to maintain a healthy balance of innovation, staff happiness and product quality.
